Our office is now proud to be offering free toothprints with your
child’s dental appointment. This is a service that we hope you never
have to use.
One of the greatest fears for parents today is that their child will
get lost or even worse abducted. Developed by a Massachusetts
pediatric dentist, Dr. Dave Tesini, toothprints are a cost effective
way of providing critical information, in case of this emergency.
When toothprints are taken, sufficient proteins in the saliva remain
on the wafer from which a DNA test can be preformed successfully.
This is a huge help in being able to assist the authorities in
tracking a missing child or making a positive identification.
How its done:
The procedure is quick and easy. The toothprint is a thermoplastic
wafer that is softened in hot water and then the child is instructed
to bite down on the wafer for 50 seconds. After, allow a 2-3 minute
cool down before placing the wafer in the plastic bag provided. The
parents are instructed to never open the plastic bag once it is
sealed because it could contaminate the scent and perhaps the DNA
sample.
Recommended toothprint update schedule:
Initial: Age 3 after all the primary teeth are erupted.
Update: Age 7 or 8
Update: Age 12 or 13

VANISH
No more annoying fluoride trays or waiting 30 minutes to eat or
drink!

This is our new fluoride treatment that we are providing for our
patients.
Vanish by Omni is the only 5% NaF white varnish! Traditional
fluoride varnishes leave a yellow film behind. But the new Vanish is
tooth colored to blend right in.
The application is quick and easy. We just use a little brush and
paint the fluoride on your teeth.
The only restrictions are:
1. No eating or drinking for only 4 minutes
2. Avoid hot liquids and hard foods for 4-6 hours.
3. No brushing or flossing that night of application.
What has the AAPD (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) said
about fluoride varnish?
“A number of clinical trials have confirmed the anticaries effect of
a 5% neutral sodium fluoride varnish. Fluoride varnishes can prevent
or reverse enamel demineralization.”
What has the ADA (American Dental Association) said about fluoride
varnishes?
“The ADA supports the use of fluoride varnishes as safe and
efficacious within a caries prevention program that includes caries
diagnosis, risk assessment, and regular dental care” (Omni website)
